| The MedicAll life is precious.. Well most of it is anyway. That is what her Instructor said to her at the Medical Academy back in SANCTUM. While they were learning to save lives, the person teaching them told them it's fine to let some people die. She knew what he meant. Out there in the city, there are those who are not doing their part to make the world a better place. The selfish, the cruel and the inhuman. She knows it is not her part to question the actions of man and she knows there is little she can do to change the world. Most believe the world will always be as cruel as it is now and that nothing will change. However, she believes that you don't always have to do what the world expects you to. All life is precious.. Those are the only words she chose to hear. Her hands are covered in blood, at least, she assumes they are, only because she can't see her hands at the moment - they are inside a man's stomach as she tries to seal a damaged lung. With one hand she works the stitches, moving a threaded needle, carefully, in and out of the damaged tissue that had been ripped apart by a bullet. Her other hand, the one that is glowing green, reacting to a spell she casted: is slowing down the heart-rate of the victim, numbing the area so does not feel any pain and healing the wound around the stitches. If all goes according to plan, this man will be able to re-enter the fight in a few minutes. The fight, which is going on around her.Above her head, bullets are whizzing past and smashing into the concrete building beside her. She dragged the wounded man to safety in what is most likely a crater from a bomb or ordinance blast. She thinks she'd be safe to work there, but with all the chaos going on around them - there is no such thing as safe. She finishes stitching the wound and lets the magic take care of the rest. When she is done she lifts her head up in time to watch an Archmage cast a massive ball of fire, he holds it in his hands for a moment as he selects his target. She watches as the fireball leaves his hands and goes sailing across the battlefield toward her friends. The moment before the burning sphere strikes one of her allies, another steps forward to block the attack with his shield. The fire burns out and sends embers and smoke into the line of her comrades.'A few minor burns', she thinks. Nothing worth her attention. That is when she looks across the field and sees two bystanders fleeing from their home in the midst of all this chaos. A mother and her young son, caught in the middle of this pointless fight, waiting for a moment of quiet in the fight to run to a safe place. That moment was short lived as the exchange of gunfire erupts again - now with a family caught in the cross fire. She watches as two of them go down, the mother dies instantly as a bullet sinks into her skull, but the boy takes a single shot to the shoulder. That is she jumps up and begins running through the storm of bullets, grenades and spells that are flying past her, exploding next to her. As she runs, the two forces, one her friends and allies - attacking this camp for the crimes they've committed in the past. The enemy, a small raiding party turned self imposed government that took over a small city. The citizens of which are all hiding in their homes, except for the ones she kneels down next to. Above her head the gunfire has stopped as the two groups rush one another with swords drawn."Great," she mutters to herself. Now she has to worry about getting stabbed herself. The boy is crying as she presses her hand to the wound, numbing it so he doesn't feel any more pain. But as the boy continues to cry she realizes that his pain is not the bullet lodged in his back, but that he is looking into the open eyes of his dead mother who was breathing a moment ago. She puts that in the back of her mind, as well as the sounds of her friends fighting behind her. She hears a few of them go down and call her name, calling for her to abandon the boy and to save them instead. These are friends she grew up with, many she has known for years, but she instead chooses to save the life of a boy she met a minute ago - she doesn't even know his name. He is moments from bleeding out, but she manages to find the artery and clamp it before re-attaching it. The boy stops breathing and she quickly turns him onto his back and begins giving him CPR - trying to stop the boy from joining his mother. She screams in his face, telling him to breath, before putting her mouth to his and giving him her own breath. She pounds her fist against his chest to try and start his heart. She then calms herself, pauses, holds her hands out in front of her and begins to cast another spell.Magic itself, is a destructive force by nature. There is a reason there are more spells that cause chaos, than ones that fix it. It takes less time to destroy something, than it does to build it. The concentration and focus required to heal a wound through magic is something few people are capable of. And when you factor in the chaos of a war going on around you - the focus needed to perform these spells drops significantly. So when she focuses all the Mana in her body to the point of her fingers, anyone watching knows and realizes the hard work and dedication she has gone through, just to save a life - the life of a boy she doesn't know. Her hand sizzles and cracks with the sting of electricity, as she then presses two fingers to the boy's chest. The transfer of energy is too fast to see, but the boy convulses a moment before his eyes shoot open. The boy will never realize that he was a second away from dying, but something tells her that he doesn't care as he turns and once again, his eyes are focused on his mother's face. She sits back and takes in a deep breath, gathering energy, she knows she was one second away from passing out. She then realizes that the sounds of battle around her have come to an end. She can only guess that her side lost, because she was too busy saving this boy's life and ignoring the cries of help from her allies. And she stands up, expecting to see the faces of her enemies, they'll rape her a few times before selling her to a slave trader. She'll do her best to escape, but she will most likely end up taking her own life when she gets a chance. She stands up to see her enemies standing in a circle around her. At their feet are the bodies of her friends. Her face is covered in dirt and blood, all excerpt the trails that her tears have created; lines from her eyes, down her cheeks where they fall off her chin. The leader of the raiders steps forward and looks down at the Medic."Why did you save that boy's life?," he is more or less confused as to why she let her friends die and saved the insignificant boy."That boy is part of our clan, you know that. He will be one of us one day."She looks from her dead allies to the boy, crying over the body of his mother. Her friends came here looking for a fight, they knew they might die. The boy and his mother weren't a part of this. The boy may grow up to be a raider. But maybe one day, when the choice is presented to him. He'll realize you don't always have to do what the world expects you to.She looks up at the men who are planning to do unspeakable things to her and speaks loud enough so only the boy can hear her words."You fight your wars.. and I'll fight mine."The Medics are a support class. Their primary focus in combat is to heal. Boring right? The Medics here will bring something a little different to the table. A Medic has seen all manner of wounds and injuries, so they know what can kill a person. And while a Medic is not known for their attacking power, they do know how to deliver a critical blow. A Medic is supposed to be neutral when treating their patients. Friend or foe. However, there may come a time when their life is in danger. And although they don't bring weapons into combat. It doesn't mean they will be without one. A Medic is able to use anything, from a fork, to a gun they find, to a rock and they are able to turn that into a weapon. However, most of them don't like to kill, so a Medic is able to get the enemy is within 5 HP, and they'll pass out.Primary Weapons: Healing & Energy WeaponsAttribute Restriction:20 Fate20 KnowhowClass Bonus:- The Medic will receive a +1 to rolls involving Healing & Energy Weapons.- The Medic will receive a +1 to rolls involving Knowhow (Intelligence Related).- The Medic will receive a -1 to rolls involving Non-Energy Melee/Ranged Weapons.Class Talents:Level 2 - The Oath - Every doctor that practices medicine takes The Oath. With Medics on the front line, the constant threat of danger is always present. Of course, most Medics wish to do no harm, but chances are, with your life on the line, the rules and your view of the world change. However, there is a difference between murder and severe injury. A fine line that a Medics are able to walk. They know how much damage a body can take. So if they don't want to kill someone, or you need your enemy alive - let The Medic take the finishing blow.- Constant.Level 5 - Weak Point - The Medic may not want to kill, but it knows how to.
