| The CrusaderThe only noise coming from our trench is the sound of my rifle rattling; as I can't seem to get my hands to stop shaking. My comrades, friends and even my commanding officer are waiting for me to get control of myself. Across the battlefield, I can hear the enemy's commander giving his men a speech about how easy this battle is going to be and about how soon they can be back home and be back in the arms of their loved ones. Their commander is one of the greatest fighters known in these parts, if he wasn't in the picture, we would surely win.. if he makes it to our front lines, none of us will be going home. That's where I come into the picture, I am the best sniper our side has, four young men have died trying to get this rifle into my hands. I only have one chance at this, when he sees us trying to snipe him, he will hide until the battle starts and then there is no stopping him; in close quarters combat, he is unstoppable. I put the rifle to my shoulder and take aim, the shaking hasn't gone away, it's gotten worse. Out of the corner of my eye I can see my captain shaking his head and talking to someone, probably coming up with a backup plan.. seeing as I am going to miss. I only hope the bullet is on target enough to take out at least one of these soldiers on their front line when I miss by a mile. I inhale a breath, I can taste defeat in the air around us, I can hear the sounds of our enemies giving a triumphant cheer as my target finishes his speech and is about to fall back in line, he won't take part in the first attack, only the pawns are sent into battle first. My finger is about to squeeze the trigger when I feel a hand on my shoulder, he speaks in a voice as calm as the surface of some ancient pond. "You're back on the farm," he says. "It's winter, you just finished your chores and you and your brother are out hunting, your mom is making some kind of stew that only tastes good when it has a little meat in it. Right now, you're staring down your barrel at a jackrabbit. Your brother has missed the last two you've came across. If you make this shot, you'll have something to rub in his face all week, if you miss, well, at least your mother's stew will be warm."I never lived on a farm, I don't have a brother and my mother couldn't boil water-much less make a stew. A short laugh escapes me and I readjust my rifle, but I notice that I am no longer shaking and I find myself calm as I see my target is about to walk back into the lines of soldiers. I exhale a breath and squeeze the trigger. Across the battlefield, the enemies react to the blast of my rifle, but my target doesn't have any time to react and his head explodes in a pink mist that blankets that first line of soldiers. I turn around to thank the stranger for calming me down, but he has quietly stepped back amongst the many soldiers behind me, I never saw his face and I don't know who he was, I'm sure he won't take part in the first wave of attacks.. only the pawns are sent into battle first.A Crusader is like any lost soul, a wanderer looking for their place in the world. There is a reason behind every choice they make, there is something pushing them to go farther than any normal person can. Their weapon of choice are blades, they won't touch any other weapon simply because there is no reward greater than the feeling of being connected to your enemy in their final moments in this world. The Crusaders hold a certain respect for combat that is lost on many other fighters and seems out of place in this world. Along with The Road Warrior, The Crusaders are the remnants of what was once in InterCity as The Street Knights. Where The Road Warrior has taken the full on combat part of their ancestor class, The Crusader focuses on helping the party - not just having a fun time killing people.Class InformationPrimary Focus: Two-Handed Swords & Defensive MagicAttribute Restriction20 Power20 ArcaneClass Bonus- The Crusader will receive a +1 to rolls involving Two-Handed Swords.- The Crusader will receive a +1 to rolls involving Defensive Magic and Enchants.- The Crusader will receive a -1 to rolls involving Ranged Combat.. cause guns are for pussies.Achievements Remember: Being the first to earn and achievement will earn you x2 EXP. | The Crusader Strand: Saint - Sinner - Nomad ((Not official))
Starting Point
Choose a Starting Skill.
Saint : Pacifist - Defensive Skills It doesn't matter if you just watched a Crusader slay a hundred enemies and is covered with the blood of those he deemed unworthy to live. You still think the guy is alright in your book. The Crusader is a lost soul who is just looking to find their place in the world and they won't allow anyone to take that liberty from those who can't defend themselves. There are those that truly believe that they were put here to rid the world of evil and so every life they take is to achieve the greater good. Saint: Sacred - The Crusader is immune to curses and other evil spells. (Non-Physical Attacks Only)
Sinner : Non-Pacifist - Offensive Skills Only those who are just have the right to judge. At least that's what the Crusader keeps telling himself as he murders another. The Crusader knows that killing is wrong and believes that when possible, those who commit crimes should stand trial. Whether or not a Crusader works for good or evil, they still have a sense of justice.. but the evil ones seem to deal it out more. Sinner: Stained Hands - The Crusader's first round of attacks will deal a Levelx10 bonus.
Nomad : Good vs. Evil is irrelevant - I have a job to do There is good... There is evil. And then there are those that walk a different path. They don't know what their purpose in this world is. They simply do what they believe is what they were put there for. Whether it's for good or evil, that is up to that Crusader. They know their purpose is simply to survive and wander the world until they find out what their purpose for living is and they will do anything to survive. Nomad : Sanctuary - The Crusader is immune to lower level melee critical attacks.
Level 4 Skills
At Level 4 you can pick one of the following Skills.
Saint: Shepherd - The Crusader notices a flaw in your party's plan of attack. And by offering a simple suggestion, the entire party becomes a more effective fighting team. They can offer a bit of advice, that only a fool wouldn't listen to, or they can yell at you and tell you to stop goofing off. Either way, the Crusader has the ability to unite a party and get them to fight as one, thus making any attack made against them, less effective. The Crusader's advice takes up two actions, allowing them only one attack for the round. The attacks made against the party the next two rounds will do only half damage. - Once Per Quest. - This skill does not need to be rolled for.
Sinner: Glory Hound - In a hurry? or maybe the party is looking to conserve some ammo for later. The Crusader steps forward toward the group of enemies and offers a silent challenge. The best fighter amongst your enemies steps forward and a one on one fight begins. If won, those standing behind the defeated enemy will either run or help you in exchange for their lives. If lost, well, the party fights a man down. - Once Per Quest. - This skill does not need to be rolled for.
Nomad: Come Get Some! - Crusaders are experts in defense, not only during the battle, but any preparations before the fight even begins. Whether it be setting up a simple trap, or fighting from the higher ground. The Crusader is able to tip the scales to your party's favor. In some cases, the enemy will notice that they're about to fight a losing battle and will flee. The Crusader makes a suggestion to a battle plan before a fight begins. It's up to the GM whether or not the enemy attacks, if they do attack, then they fight with a -2 to all their rolls. - Once Per Quest. - This skill does not need to be rolled for.
Level 8 Skills
At Level 8, you can pick one of the following Skills.
Saint: Servant - There is something that happens to you when you die. Sadly, you never got the chance to see what that was because just as you were about to enter the doorway to the other side the Crusader pulls you back, but the Crusader knows it is there. And once per quest, the Crusader can allow others to see the light and possibly question their faith. The Crusader is able to give part of their Aura or Soul to a dead party member and raise them from the grave. The dead party member will then receive the Crusader's max base HP as their own. But their armor has obviously been destroyed.. Otherwise they wouldn't have died. - Once Per Quest. - This skill does not need to be rolled for.
Sinner: Wraith - Once in a while, a Crusader just needs to let it all out. Pray you're not his target when he does. The Crusader runs forward and pushes his entire Soul or Aura into the blade of his weapon. He sacrifices the rest of his MP in his Mana Tank, but all that turns into DMG. The Crusader will deal Levelx10 DMG+Bonus MP added afterwords. Normal Attack+(Levelx10)+Bonus MP. This is only effective for one round (3 attacks). - Once Per Quest. - This skill does not need to be rolled for.. other than the attacking part.
Nomad: Vindicated - When backed into a corner, a Crusader will find a way out. Even if the odds are stacked against them, The Crusader knows that this is not where his journey ends and will do anything to survive because he knows his purpose on this world has not yet been seen. But a sacrifice must be made. Once Per Quest, the Crusader sacrifices his Aura (all of his MP) and half of his Soul (half of his Base HP), all to give his party a fighting chance. For the two rounds after this sacrifice, all party members will do DMG + Crusader's Levelx10 and take half damage. But the Crusader must survive the first round, if he dies, the second round bonuses go away. - Once Per Quest. - This skill does not need to be rolled for. | |
